(HOUSTON, Texas –August, 2018) – Bernstein Private Wealth Management (“Bernstein”), a global asset management firm with a downtown Houston office, has partnered with the Hess Houston Corporate Run to pay tribute to Houston area first responders. On the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Harvey, Bernstein has announced it will be sponsoring 200 first responders from the Houston Police and Fire Department. Hess Corporation, the title sponsor for the event, will match that commitment, so that 400 first responders can participate in the October race free of charge.
This annual corporate health and wellness event, which enters its second year, promotes health and wellness within the Houston corporate community. Employees from more than 100 Houston area companies are expected to take part in this 5K run/walk. Post-race hospitality includes food sampling from the Creek Group and refreshments from companies like Saint Arnold, entertainment, sunset yoga and interaction with others in the Houston corporate community.
“HPD is thankful for the opportunity to join the Hess Houston Corporate 5K Run, running and walking with other Houstonians in an effort to maintain a healthier lifestyle. HPD will show up and lead by example” said Art Acevedo, Chief of Police. Along with HPD, the Houston Fire Department will also take part in this event. “Houston firefighters are thankful to Bernstein and Hess for recognizing first responders including HFD and we are excited to join the community we serve in taking steps toward greater health and wellness.” said Samuel Pena, Chief of HFD.
“After participating in this event last year, we know the Hess Houston Corporate Run is a great opportunity to bring the entire corporate community together, including first responders” said Michael Elllington, Bernstein’s Senior Managing Director in Houston. “This year is especially important to support the community and recognize the immense impact HPD and HFD have made one year after Harvey.”
This year’s Hess Houston Corporate Run 5K will take place Monday, October 22 to Thursday, October 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Park with the post-race hospitality each day until 8 p.m. Participants choose one of four days to participate by running or walking. Awards are given in a number of categories, including fastest overall company, most number of employee participants from a company overall and by industry, and fastest overall male and female under age 40 and over age 40.
“We are proud to continue our support of Houston’s first responders,” said Andy Slentz, SVP, Human Resources and Office Management. “Last year, we donated 3,000 Hess toy trucks to the Houston Fire Department’s Operation Stocking Stuffer program and another 3,000 to the Houston Police Department’s Blue Santa program. We hope that people will join us and get their companies involved in the great event.”
A portion of all revenue generated will be donated to the Memorial Park Conservancy, a 501(c)3 non-profit and one of Houston’s preeminent green spaces committed to the health and wellness of residents in Houston.
