(HOUSTON, Texas – October, 2018) This past October, the 2nd annual Hess Houston Corporate Run 5K again came to the main loop at Memorial Park. This 5K event has been tabbed as one of the most unique runs in Houston as it’s spread over the course of four days (Mon-Thu) giving employees the flexibility to choose what day to run. Furthermore, each person could show up to start line anytime on the day they chose between 4-7pm, and then enjoy refreshments afterwards in the post-race hospitality village.
4,154 people representing 150 Houston area companies participated in the event. This was more than double the number of participants from the inaugural year which saw 2,005 people representing 93 companies. A portion of all registration and sponsorship revenue will directly benefit the Memorial Park Conservancy and the donation from this year’s event will more than double in size from last year.
“We’d like to thank Memorial Park and our title sponsor Hess for helping us to double the size of this event and expand it many ways. We also want to acknowledge the many great companies and their employees who came out to participate this year” said Houston Corporate Run 5K co-founder Adam Levinson. “We have received amazing feedback directly from companies and our post-event survey which tells us this event will continue to grow by leaps and bounds, especially as Houston area companies continue to focus on employee health and wellness.”
“The Hess Houston Corporate Run 5K was a huge success once again this year” said Cara Rudelson, COO of Memorial Park Conservancy. Rudelson added “Not only were we able to raise significant funds as a result of the event, but we also showcased the new SLT extension to many people who hadn’t seen it yet. We are already looking forward to 2019”
“Thank you to all of the Houston area companies for being part of this growing ‘office party’ said Andy Slentz, SVP of Human Resources at Hess Corporation. “We are proud to be the title sponsor of this event and have made it a significant initiative to focus on employee health and wellness. We’re already looking forward to even bigger and better things next year.”
Awards for the event were based on a number of different categories including fastest overall company, most number of employee participants from a company and fastest male and female over and under 40. Highlighting the award winners was Sterling McCall Auto Group who won the award for most number of employee participants while Hess Corporation took home the trophy for the fastest overall company.
The 2019 event will take place the week of October 21st at Memorial Park. Sponsorship opportunities are available in addition to team participation. For more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 832.974.1690
