Many of us are still feeling the effects in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. We are still trying to get our homes, streets and businesses back to a sense of normalcy. One area particularly affected by Harvey was the Energy Corridor District, the heart of many of Houston’s biggest companies and a place many call home. On December 3rd the “grand re-opening” of the Energy Corridor District will take place with the inaugural ‘Jingle All the 5K’.
The fun run/walk will start at 9AM on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at the Addicks Park and Ride right off of I-10. Not only do participants receive a festive t-shirt and ornament medal, but there will also be Santa, dancing reindeer and post-race refreshments. So, come out and show everyone your best holiday attire and spirit!
A portion of all the net proceeds from the event will go to Memorial Assistance Ministries (MAM). Through monetary donations, MAM has been integral assisting families both financially and with new clothing and furniture in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. The proceeds donated will go toward helping families enjoy the holidays this year.
“We are thrilled to help re-open this area by bringing ‘Jingle All the 5K’ to the Energy Corridor” said Clark Martinson, General Manager and Executive Director of the Energy Corridor District. “Just a couple of months ago the 5K course was under water. We are back now and ready to host this fun event which will directly benefit families through the Memorial Assistance Ministries.”
“We are excited to be working with the Energy Corridor and the ‘Jingle All the 5K’ this holiday season” said Christina Finley, Development Officer at Memorial Assistance Ministries. “Many families will be in need this holiday season after Harvey and we’re happy that part of the proceeds for this event will help give families some essentials they still need.”
The cost is $30 per person until the end of October, $35 from Nov 1-Nov 26 and $40 on the week of the event. Families are welcome to run or walk together in this event and every participant can make an additional donation to MAM on top of their registration fee.
